1 – What is Yasmeen studying?
She is studying science in Kuwait.
2 – Who taught the children in al-katateeb?
AL-Mullah taught the children.
3 – Where did the children learn the Quran in the past?
They learned the Quran in AL-Katateeb.
4 – When the first modern school opened?
The first modern school opened in 1912.
5 – What do you learn at school?
I learn English, Arabic, science and math.
6 – What did children study at school in the past?
They studied only Quran and how to read and write.
7 – Where did children learn before having schools?
They studied at Al-Katateeb.

Unit Two: A present for Aunt Yasmeen
1 – Where do you go for shopping?
I go to the souq.
2 – Why do people go to the fish market?
The people go the fish market to buy fish .
3 – What can you see in the gold market?
I can see a necklace and rings.
4 – What can you buy as a present for your friend?
I can buy a scarf, a bag, a pen or toys.
5 – What can you buy as a present for your mother?
I can buy a scarf and a bag.
6 – What can you do in the market?
I can buy things.
7 – What can you do in the vegetable market?
I can buy fruit and vegetables.



Dialogue
A – I got something for you.
B – Oh, what a lovely scarf
A – Shall we go sailing?
B – Yes, I’d like to go to the see.
A – Shall we go the souq?
B – Yes, that’s a good idea.
A – I bought something for you.
B – What a lovely scarf.

4 – What did they eat?
They ate a lot of fish and vegetables.
5 – What is Dickson House?
It’s an old house in Old Kuwait.
6 – How did they have light in the night?
They used the paraffin lamps.
7 – What would you like to be in the future?
I'd like to be a doctor.
8 – What did men do in the past?
They worked at the sea.

Dialogue
A – Can I see your book?
B – Yes, of course.
A – I can't find my pen.
B - Sorry, I didn't see it.
A – What's wrong?
B – I lost my ball
A – You sat on my toy.
B – Sorry, I didn't see it.
A-You came to school late
B – I'm sorry.
A – Where did people sleep in the past when the weather hot?
They slept on the roof of the house.
What would you say in the following situations?
1 – You lost your brother's pencil.
I'm sorry.
2 – Your teacher asks you about what people ate in the past.
People ate rice and fish.


Unit Four: caught in a snowstorm
1 – What's the weather like in Canada in winter?
It is snowy.
2 – What can you do in the winter in Canada?
I can go skating and skiing.
3 – Why isn't the snow safe sometimes?
Because the roads get icy.
4 – What did Grandpa have in the car?
He had a hat, gloves, a blanket and hot coffee.
5 – What should drivers wear in a snowy weather?
They should wear heavy clothes, a hat and gloves.
6 – What's the weather like in Kuwait in winter?
It's windy and cloudy.
8 – Does it snow in Kuwait?
No, it doesn't
9 – What is the weather like in Kuwait?
It is usually hot and sunny.
10 – How is the snow dangerous sometimes?
The roads are very icy .
11 – What do people have to do if they were caught in a snowstorm?
They have to stop the car , sit inside and wait for help

That’s wrong, the roads are not safe for driving.

5 – Your mother cut hand when she was cooking.
You should go to the doctor


Unit five: caught in a dust storm
1 – What's the weather like?
It's windy.
2 – Why is everyone going home?
Because there's a dust storm.
3 – Why are dust storms dangerous?
Because you can't see anything in a dust storm.
4 – Why is it very uncomfortable to walk in a dust storm?
Because you might get dust in your eyes, ears and mouth.
5 – What should you do if you are caught in a dust storm?
I should cover my nose and mouth with scarf or a cloth.
6 – What should drivers do in a dust storm?
They should move the car off the road, put the brake on, turn off all the car lights and wait for the storm to stop.
7 – What is the weather like in a dust storm?
It is windy and the wind blows dust over everything.
